NATO watch straps

NATO straps are one of the most popular watch straps amongst people valuing functionality and comfort. Thanks to the current craze for this type of straps, they can be seen on the cheapest models of watches, as well as on Rolex and even on worth 50.000$ Patek Philippes.

Originally, as the name itself suggests, they were made for NATO troops. They are most often characterised by the width of 20mm, chrome-plated brass buckle and a double nylon strap (watch keeper strap) providing additional stabilisation of a watch on wrist – it will stay in place even with a broken spring bar.

They are currently available in a wide variety of sizes and colors, when it comes to pattern you can choose either solid color or striped NATO bands. Good quality NATO watch straps are waterproof, washable and stink-free. They are breathable and lightweight, despite tighter weave. They have rounded hardware, either metal buckles or (less popular) are fastened with velcro. The straps are easily adjustable and interchangeable, allowing you to fit your strap for the occasion without any effort.

Very similar to NATO straps are ZULU straps – the main difference between the two is that the latter ones are made of a thicker material, have a single strap and rounded hardware. For those not liking the casual look of a nylon band, there are also available leather NATO and ZULU watch straps. Both NATO and ZULU bands are one of the most popular types of military watch straps.
