Biggest faux pas and mistakes when wearing watches

To have a beautiful watch is a great joy and a good beginning for amping-up your style. But too often elegant men’s watch or casual women’s watch simply loses all its charm when your wear it wrong. To avoid most common mistakes while wearing a watch observe the rules described below. This way you’ll always look great wearing the right watch, at the right time in the right place!

Wearing it wrong in the evening

Casual or pilot watches are perfect during the day. Fun, with diverse design, comfortable they were made to complement your all day looks. But when you decide to go for an evening event and need something a little bit smarter they just won’t do! Common mistake besides wearing a wrong type of the watch is going with the over-the-top design. Simplicity is your friend in these types of situations and if you are not sure just go simple and you’ll be good to go.
Other things you can add to your evening watch rules are gold or silver cases with simple leather straps. Understated dials are also a plus. Remember – less is more and you have no reason to wear what Kanye West wears on his wrist.
And one more thing – do not fetishize the brand of a watch – look for something that looks elegant and discreet no matter the brand.

Wrong part of the wrist

The rule is simple and it is surprising how many of us wear their watches on the wrong part of the wrist. Your watch should be next to your wrist bone with the face outside of the wrist right next to the bone. When wearing the shirt and standing your watch shouldn’t be visible beneath the cuff (and absolutely NEVER wear your watch on top of your shirt cuff!).

Oversized watch faces are over – why are you wearing it?!

Oversized watches were all the rage for a moment even though this never should be applied to dress watches and official events. Now it is completely out of fashion so think about it when choosing a watch. You can use our sizing guides to find a watch with the right watch face size in relation to your wrist size.
As a rule of thumb, you shouldn’t wear anything bigger than 50mm. 34-40mm should work for most men and women’s watches

Wearing it too tight or too loose

This is the one that not many people even know about. The watch straps have to be tight enough for the watch not to move down your wrist. On the other hand, it should be loose enough not to leave marks on your skin. An imprint on the wrist looks awful and it’s certainly not healthy so always avoid it.

Don’t wear the same watch every day

There are actually multiple reasons why you should switch your watches from day to day. If the watch has a high sentimental or financial value you want to give it a break ever so often so it lasts longer and ages better.
Another reason is the fact that there’s no way one watch will be equally suited for all your different looks and occasions every week. With the resurgence of sports watches and activity trackers, you absolutely should have a minimum of three watches to have something from the sport, casual and dress categories. With our great prices, you are able to build your collection without going bankrupt.
