Milanese straps come of course from Milan in Italy where they were first produced as a special chainmail – a protective metal worn for safety. It was first introduced in the 13th century and stayed the trade secret of Italian masters for over 500 years. In 1920′ Milanese straps came back thanks to famous German watch strap makers Staib and Vollmer and were incredibly popular until 60′.
