How it all began – the history of Seiko company
Founded in 1881 as a jewelry company, eleven years later Seikosha (“House of Exquisite Workmanship”) began producing clocks giving the birth of a legend. In 1924 they have produced their first watch and in 1969 they were the first to produce commercially a quartz watch – one of the most important moments in modern watch history. When it was first introduced it cost the equivalent of a mid-sized car!
That wasn’t even the only milestone that Seiko was part of as they have also been the company that introduced first automatic quartz watch combining the ease of use of an automatic watch with the precision of the quartz mechanism.
To this day – the luxury lines of watches are manufactured entirely in-house including the smallest elements and tools like oils used to lubricate the mechanism of the watch. This is unheard of in the world of watch brands this huge.

The most important models
Seiko has many hit models and famous designs in their history but there are few that were especially important.
Seiko 5 was very modern and went against many traditions being a dream-watch of the 60’s generation. durable, comfortable and easy to use – those are all the most important characteristics of this model.
Trying to compete with the design and quality of the Swiss watchmakers Seiko introduced their Grand Seiko series and the legendary 44GS model. Highly polished with incredible visibility and dazzling look – 44GS marked the maturity of the Grand Seiko line making it relevant among even the most demanding clientele.
Quartz ASTRON is an amazing triumph of the engineering and class being the first ever production watch that was both automatic and used quartz mechanism
